Patridge: Businesses must engage in 2010 Census count

Keith Patridge, President/CEO of the McAllen Economic Development Corporation urges all businesses to engage in the 2010 Census.

In a recent interview with the Rio Grande Guardian, Patridge said, “The census will impact the amount of tax revenues that comes into the community. If we do not count all the people in our area, we are just cheating ourselves and our opportunity for growth and revenue from the federal government.”

The Census Bureau is looking to hire about 2,500 temporary workers in Hidalgo County to conduct and promote the count. Click here for more information on census jobs.

Hidalgo County works to preserve its history

With hundreds of years worth of land records, sales and change of titles, Hidalgo County has a lot of history to preserve.

Hidalgo County officials, located on the US-Mexico border in deep south Texas, are working to digitize its old archives.
