McAllen promotes green initiatives

The City of McAllen has kick started a citywide campaign to promote green business and green living. The city of about 130,000 has received numerous recognitions for its composting and recycling programs; and now is taking a pro-active approach with its citizens and businesses. McAllen Mayor Richard Cortez used his 2010 State of the City speech to discuss some of the new programs and marketing efforts to encourage a more environmentally-friendly lifestyle. McAllen breaks ground on new north-south connector road

To help efficiently more traffic from the south to north, the City of McAllen officially broke ground on the Bicentennial Blvd extension.

This extension will add another north-south thoroughfare to the growing city of McAllen.
